Gentry/Ewart Family Tree site now formatted for Smartphones

Now when you visit the Gentry/Ewart Family Tree website from a smartphone you'll see a slightly different optimized view. Now you don't have to scroll around the page to see all the information. This should allow for a better user experience. Be sure to bookmark on your smartphone. Enjoy.

Laptop Troubles

2-5-2011 Update:  Once again I've fixed my laptop.  This time the fix should last.  At least I hope it does.

1-25-2011 Update: Laptop's down again.  Looking at trying to get another one around 2-4-2010.

1-4-2011  Update: I was able to fix a laptop that I had.  Family research has began again.

12-3-2010 Great news! I was able to recover my Family Tree Maker files from my ailing laptop hard drive.  I installed Family Tree Maker on my desktop and made sure everything was still their.  Everything's good to go.

My next step is to get another laptop to continue my family research.  I'm going to work on getting one in the next couple of months.  I'm also going to start posting information again.  Stay tuned.

Trying to find any information on him prior to 1900.

2. William Hamilton b. Jan 1835 d. 19 Jan 1921 Link to tree
I can't find any information on his parents.

3. Maltida M. Doughtery and husband  b. abt. 1866  d. abt. 1958 Link to tree
I can't find any information on husband, correct death date...etc.  There were 2 different Maltida Doughtery's in the 1880 census.

4. Claude William Hamilton Jr b. 17 Oct 1925  d. 19 Feb 2000 Link to tree
Trying to find military information.  The only info I have is that he was on a wooden deck ship in the US Navy in WW2.

5. John Fink b. 25 Dec 1789 d. 21 Nov 1860 Link to tree
He born and died in Cabarrus County.  I need information on parents.

6. Gertie Mae Burris b. 19 Nov 1916 d. 12 Dec 1974 Link to tree
I need her marriage date to Robert Warren Hamilton.

7. Robert Warren Hamilton b. 02 Dec 1920 d. 23 Jan 2006 Link to tree
Trying to get in touch with his step-kids.  He was married to Gertie Mae Burris.

8. Mary Emmeline Gentry b. 02 Feb 1922 d. 31 Oct 2001 Link to tree
Trying to get in contact with her children.  She was married to Howard Rutter.

Family Tree Project

My family tree project will be on hold for a couple of months.  My laptop that I use for researching is getting the blue-screen.  I'll let you know as soon as I start it back up.  Feel free to post comments.

Tombstone Tuesday and Wordless Wednesday

Tombstone Tuesday and Wordless Wednesday are one of a couple ways genealogist add content and information to their blog.  I'm going to start adding these to my blog so that I can get more information out there on the internet.  Hope you enjoy the new postings.

Email Updates Available

Email updates are now available.  Now you don't have to visit my page and wonder if I've updated something.  You can just sign up for email updates on the right hand side of the page in just three easy steps.

1. Enter your email address in the box as pictures below.

Once you enter your email address, another page will popup to verify it's you.

2. You'll have to enter the verification code.

3. Check your email and click on the link in your email. That's it.  Now you'll get email updates when I update the blog.  Remember to get more frequent updates, subscribe to my twitter. Enjoy.

Added Twitter to the sidebar

As the subject says, I just added Twitter to the sidebar.  Here you will find up to date tweets about my research.  These are things that are too small to do a whole blog story about.  For example, what I'm currently searching for, things I just found and etc.  Feel free to follow me on Twitter if you have a Twitter account.

Update: Moved it to just above the blog since it gets updated more often.

The Software I Use for my Family Tree

I use a piece of software called Family Tree Maker 2009. I like it because it's easy, yet sophisticated. It's great for making charts, organizing and adding photos, and facts. One of the best parts is how it integrates with Ancestry.com and I can pull facts directly into my tree.

My Family Tree Link

I have my tree posted on a couple of different websites including Tribal Pages and Ancestry.com. The easiest one to navigation would be the one at Tribal Pages. The URL is http://gentryfamily.tribalpages.com. I have also included some photos on the Tribal Pages site and Tribal Pages is also the most up to date .

There is not an update option on Ancestry.com, I sent them a message asking if there was but there isn't. Right now I have my original tree and one that says update on Ancestry.com.
You would think that being such a large website they would have an update option.

New Family Research Blog
